Staying Connected - Early Childhood Transition to Primary

Staying Connected - Transition to School Workshop: Connect Phase (1 hour session)

Parents who are beginning the school journey with their children are often overlooked in how they transition into school life. This one hour workshop explores the role of parents as they transition with their children to primary school and the difference between parent involvement and engagement in learning. The session explores how the role of parents changes but emphasises the importance of continuing to encourage learning at home. 
This introductory workshop includes a complimentary copy of the book, Staying Connected, written by Rachel Saliba for your parent library. Ideal for parents and teachers to learn together and share knowledge and ideas.

Staying Connected - Parent Engagement in Learning Workshop: Connect Phase (2 hour session)

Parents who are already on the school journey with their children are often seeking ways to engage in learning with their children. This 2 hour session explores the role of parents in providing guidance and support for their children on their learning journey.  This workshop, immerses parents in learning with examples of games and incidental engagement in learning activities they can try at home - identifying and seizing teachable moments.

Staying Connected - Learning Walks

Staying Connected - Guided Learning Walks: Connect Phase (2 hour session)

Parents who are already on the school journey with their children are often seeking ways to engage in learning with their children. This 2 hour session provides a facilitated learning walk with families in your learning community. This engaging practice has been shown to be a positive introduction for parents in understanding learning that is happening in the classroom, demonstrating the strategies used by teachers and how recognise learning in the classroom that can then be enhance at home. We provide parents with an initial briefing and finish with a community conversation to discuss the learning observations.

Parent Leadership - An introduction to PEAT

Parents as Leaders in schools - Parent Engagement Action Teams: Engage-Inspire Phase (1 hour session)

Parents who are already involved in a school community are often under utilised as a valuable resource of ideas and skills that could be explored as partners in learning. Our Parent Engagement Action Team Mentor Program provides schools with a new model of parent groups with a vision to build parent-school connection and parent engagement in learning throughout the whole school community. This one hour presentation explores the opportunity to develop this team model and provides insight into what is possible in contemporary learning environments when parents and school staff work together in partnership to pro-actively develop ideas together for school improvement and learning opportunities for students.
