Course Overview
Connect Learning Online has been designed to support school leaders and teachers on your journey as educators to improve the way you relate with, communicate and engage parents of the students you teach.
Like any partnership, a relationship must begin with trust. But how do you build trust with parents in schools when you are time poor, focused on teaching and managing through the daily challenges of your chosen profession?
This online course has been developed to provide you with support throughout the course, to enable learning in your own time and for you to earn credentials for each module to include as part of your professional learning achievements. Once you have purchased the training you are provided lifetime access to video tutorials, webinars and resources to support you in developing positive connections, improve relational skills and understanding of how to walk alongside parents as partners in their children’s learning so your students can thrive.

It takes many different skills to know how to build trusted relationships, particularly in schools when time is limited and your students are your main focus.
Our unique 6 step PRECEDENT Formula® provides teachers and leaders with a manageable system that can continue to be drawn on each year to build effective emotional intelligence, communication, engagement skills to build trust with parents. This then enables an authentic partnership to develop to supporting your students to thrive in their learning and wellbeing.
Drawing on our work with schools and parents through our personal and professional development coaching and consulting programs, exploring extensive research and adaptation of the Dual Capacity Framework across all programs, we explore various methods for you to improve connections with parents to benefit you personally and professionally to engage with your students.
The online course includes unique teachings from our founder and Director, Rachel Stewart. She shares with you, her many years of experience as a creative, intuitive, design and entrepreneurial thinker who has learned from some of the best coaches in the world. Her knowledge of human behaviour, how we learn and how the brain works is integrated into this unique course specifically designed to support educators.
The full course also includes Interviews with specialists in building rapport, understanding how parent knowledge supports student learning, how to build your resilience and emotional intelligence, prevent conflict and provides insight into various strategies you can adopt for impactful teaching practice. All modules are designed to support you to build confidence, overcome any anxieties or challenges you may have in relating with parents and to better understand your students and how they learn.
By the end of the course, participants will have gained:
- Deeper understanding of human behaviours and how to overcome perceptions to strengthen relationships with parents, colleagues and with students
- Confidence in connecting with families through cogenerative dialogue and improved communication strategies
- Increased understanding of the skills required to build rapport and effectively communicate learning with families
- Increased understanding of students and how they learn by engaging in parent knowledge
of their children - Understanding what trust means and how it impacts relationships and student learning.
When teachers have the support of parents as partners who are engaged in their children’s learning, children are able to thrive in their learning and wellbeing.
Aligned with Teaching & Leading Standards
This course has been designed for educators to complete as part of a three phase continuum of learning to develop authentic partnerships with parents. Educators may include school leadership teams, teachers, support and admin staff to encourage a whole school approach to trusted relationships with parents.
Completing this course will contribute several hours of professional learning that can be used as evidence for the purposes of maintaining teacher registration in your State or Territory.
